Facility Closure Update Facility

FACILITY CLOSURE ANNOUNCEMENT

To All YMCA Members, Employees, and the Entire C-U Community,

It is with a great deal of concern, the utmost thought and input, and with our community's well-being in mind that we have decided to temporarily close the Stephens Family YMCA. Effective March 15, at 6:00PM, the YMCA will be closed to all members until the end of day on April 7th. We are hoping to open on April 8th, but we are not clear if that will be possible at this time. This includes all programs and facilities.

Please know that this decision was not made hastily. We spent a great deal of time trying to determine how we can best serve our community. At the end of the day, we have decided to do that by fully participating in the social distancing practices that are being recommended by all levels of federal, state, and local government. We have been in contact with YMCA's all over the country, and we think that this is the right course of action at this time. We know that this will not be a completely popular decision, but during this time we feel it is best.

We ask that you bear with us with regards to our plan of action moving forward.  You can look for another email to come out tomorrow regarding membership, cancelled programs, etc. Our YMCA depends on our membership to keep our doors open and we are hoping that you will continue to be loyal to the YMCA during this very difficult time.

We have so many questions that need to be answered. We will work on that in the coming days. A leadership team will meet tomorrow morning to discuss our next steps.

We, along with many Y's, will be offering virtual group fitness offerings. We will continue to populate our website with fitness videos and offerings that can be done in your own home. Check out what we have so far. Christina Frye and our entire wellness team are working hard to get some more great content loaded. http://sf-ymca.net/virtual_wellness/

Thanks for your patience and understanding during this very difficult time.

Stay well,

Jeff Scott, CEO
